Algocraft expands the support of the new MSPM0 MCUs introduced by Texas Instruments
The in-circuit programmer series by Algocraft (WriteNow! and μISP ) now supports Texas Instruments’ ARM Cortex-M0+ MSPM0L and MSPM0G MCUs.
A key strength of this Arm Cortex-M0+ based family is the price (Texas Instruments announced a quantity price of $0.39) and scalability: the MSPM0L family, described by TI as “entry level” features a 32MHz CPU, 4KB of SRAM, and up to 64KB of on-chip flash memory; the higher-end MSPM0G family features an 80MHz CPU, up to 32KB of SRAM, and up to 128KB of flash.
The programming algorithm developed by Algocraft’s engineers implements all the functionalities required by TI: both the programming of the MAIN FLASH memory and the NONMAIN memory.
The latter is a special memory area that contains the device configuration data and must be programmed with extreme care to avoid permanently locking the device.
Lastly, it offers the ability to specify different chip erase options: “mass erase” erases the MAIN memory while leaving the NONMAIN unchanged, whereas “factory reset” erases the MAIN memory and restores the default values of the NONMAIN.
The WriteNow! programming solution is ideal for these applications as it can program up to 8 devices in parallel—expandable up to 32 devices with the demultiplexer module. The programming cycle time is about 1 second for a 64KB MCU (MSPM0L1306).
