Focus on Elmos LED driver IC programming algorithm

The Efficient, reliable and unique. The triumph of LEDs in vehicles has just begun. But now is certain: It is only a matter of time before the entire vehicle is equipped with LEDs.

Elmos (https://www.elmos.com/)now already has highly efficient power supply components that enable LED use in all passenger car applications. Elmos offers High Voltage LED Controller, Linear LED Controller and a LIN RGB Controller. Each IC has special features that will enhance the efficiency.

Elmos LED Drivers may include either a non-volatile configuration memory or a microcontroller with FLASH memory, which must be programmed during the production process.

Programming is supported across various protocols: I2C, differential bus via CAN bus, LIN, or JTAG (available in 1-wire or 2-wire variants). All these LED driver devices across different protocols are supported by specific WriteNow! programming algorithms.

Below is an overview of the currently supported devices:

In addition to supporting the Elmos LED driver series, it’s worth noting that Algocraft also supports the Elmos BLDC Motor Controller product line (in JTAG and SWD protocol).

"Not only MCUs and memories": This is the motto that Pietro Poletto, R&D Manager at Algocraft, likes to emphasize as a unique feature of the WriteNow! platform. It highlights the ability to support not only standard devices like MCUs or memories but any type of integrated circuit with programmable locations (PMIC ICs, sensors, motor drivers, LED drivers, data converters, etc.) through different protocols.

The WriteNow! programming solution is ideal for these applications as it can program up to 8 devices in parallel — expandable up to 32 devices with the demultiplexer module.
